After a parade of toe baring accessories – toe diamond rings, anklets, and yes, no less the sandals – walking on the runways, the verdict is in: flip flops are the latest fashion fixation. While the exposed feet has always been a heavy hitter for summer, this season the rubbery footwear gets a high fashion treatment. From Balenciaga to The Row’s controversial $950 rubber sandals, and Havaianas collaboration with Gimaguas that got Kylie Jenner’s stamp of approval, the thonged sandals are key to look noticeably cooler even in the hottest days of summer.

Leather sandals, $1,565, The Row
If you’re on any social media, you’ve probably had one of The Row sandals on your radar. Given the calfskin material and extra detailing on the straps is perhaps a slightly more justifiable purchase than the $950 rubber ones stirring up controversy on the internet.
