F ZINE Street Style: Temasek Polytechnic Design Show 2026 Edition

Final-year students showcased everything from eco-conscious designs to street style that demanded a second look—proof that creativity is just as much about what you wear as what you make.

The Temasek Polytechnic Design Show 2026, which ran from 12 to 17 March at the school, was a lively showcase of the next generation of designers. Over 330 graduating students revealed projects across fashion, product, film, communication, spatial, and digital design—many tackling real-world challenges with creativity and purpose. The show also saw the launch of the first-of-its-kind TP x CHARLES & KEITH Group Foundation Circular Design Incubator, giving students a chance to explore sustainable, circular design in collaboration with industry.

And of course, the street style on the showcase floor was just as fun and eye-catching as the projects themselves - here, the people who caught our eye:

Name: Chandresh Ravichandran

Occupation: Aerospace Electronics Student

Tell us about your fit: “I’m wearing a sport jacket, a vintage sweater, a dagger-collared shirt, and cuffed flannel trousers, all from the ’70s and sourced from Carousell. My shoes are steel-toe safety shoes that I use for workshop sessions in my diploma course, also from Carousell.”

Your style inspo: “I usually look to my collection of fashion catalogues and photography magazines from the ’70s to ’80s for style inspiration. Recently, I’ve also been watching old footage and documentaries from that era in Singapore, emulating what people wore. About 90 per cent of my wardrobe is thrifted, and I rarely buy anything made after the 1990s. I don’t want to look like I dress vintage—I actually wear vintage.”

Pang Jia Wei

Name: Gertruda Repsyte

Occupation: Fashion Design student

Tell us about your fit: “My top and trousers are borrowed from a friend—I really love these trousers, so I keep coming back to them. I’m wearing thrifted Doc Martens boots, and my bag is a Paris Hilton piece that I also thrifted from Fairies Aisle.”

Your style inspo: “My style varies a lot, and I’m inspired by many different things. Honestly, it mostly comes from my own head—I don’t really follow any specific aesthetics or trends.”

Pang Jia Wei

Name: Gladys Pang

Occupation: Student

Tell us about your fit: “The corset was a gift, and my shoes are from Antaina. Everything else I’m wearing is from Qutie Frash.”

Your style inspo: “I’m inspired by wafuu-kei (visual kei bands who are inspired by ancient Japan) bands like Kiryu, and my makeup is influenced by Isabella Yamamoto from Paradise Kiss.”

Pang Jia Wei

Name: Leo

Occupation: Sales associate

Tell us about your fit: “My outfit consists of a top and mini skirt from a Taobao brand called 一颗小奶糖, which I paired with a lace blouse to play into the cake-like aesthetic of the outfit. My headband is from a Lolita brand called Withpuji, also bought from Taobao. I matched the look with an ita bag featuring my favourite character, Qiao Ling, from Link Click.”

Your style inspo: “My outfit is mostly inspired by J-fashion styles. Today’s look is based on a cute layered cake, which is reflected in the layering, ruffles, and pastel colours.”

Pang Jia Wei

Name: Glenys

Occupation: Student and aspiring fashion designer

Tell us about your fit: “My outfit is inspired by the gyaru subculture, specifically agejo—a more mature, glamorous Japanese style that originated from Koakuma Ageha magazine in the mid-2000s and is heavily influenced by hostess fashion. I was helping out backstage for the fashion show, so I needed something breathable, which led me to create this look—frilly yet comfortable.

The top is made up of four pieces: detachable sleeves from a Taobao dress set, a lace inner layer (also from Taobao), a Victoria’s Secret top worn over it, and a bow pin from a past project that I now reuse as an outfit detail. The bottoms are ruffled shorts from Taobao, paired with long socks, leg warmers, and Fila shoes.”

Your style inspo: “My style is strongly inspired by Japanese fashion, as well as Chinese interpretations of it. I’m drawn to styles like gyaru, himekaji, and himegyaru, especially hyper-feminine looks that blend these influences with elements of Lolita.

Many of my outfits revolve around themes of girlhood, nostalgia, and a kind of dessert-inspired fantasy. I gravitate towards soft yet expressive styling—ribbons, lace, frills, and layered silhouettes—mixed with both pastel and richer tones to create something playful, emotional, and slightly maximalist.”

Name: Claudia

Occupation: Fashion Merchandising Student

Tell us about your fit: “My outfit that day leaned into a more feminine, boho aesthetic. This piece was actually designed and sewn by me for a school project, where I transformed doilies and crochet into versatile bridal wear. Inspired by crochet doily mats, I wanted to turn something traditionally decorative into something wearable, so I crocheted and pieced together different doilies with lace panels to create the top-to-dress silhouette.”

Your style inspo: “My style is inspired by my love for delicate vintage pieces, with a touch of femininity and playfulness. I’m drawn to intricate details that spark curiosity and invite people to take a closer look at a garment. I enjoy experimenting with different ways of styling my clothes to highlight and bring out the design elements of each piece in my wardrobe, depending on the mood or occasion.”

Pang Jia Wei

Name: Rudy Alfian

Occupation: National serviceman

Tell us about your fit: “I bought the hat in Vietnam, but I sewed on the patches myself. The top is a waffle-knit Henley from YouthsInBalaclava, and the trousers are from SANDRO. I paired them with NewRock boots and a DIY studded bracelet from a friend.”

Your style inspo: “There wasn’t any particular inspiration for this fit—I just put on whatever was in my wardrobe.”

Pang Jia Wei

Name: Julien Muchtar

Occupation: Fashion design graduate

Tell us about your fit: “I’m not sure if it’s in the photo, but I’m wearing a denim jacket that I thrifted in Japan from the brand Hare. Underneath, I have a long-sleeve, pin-tucked top that I picked up a couple of days ago in Taiwan from one of those small curated shops in Zhongshan. The trousers are from PERSONSOUL, which I bought during a school trip to Guangzhou while sourcing fabrics for my final-year collection.

For accessories, I got the rings randomly from street vendors in South Korea. One of my chains is from a Chinese brand called BLACKHEAD, which I really love, and the other is from a store in Laforet Harajuku. As for my belts, the double-eyelet belt is from NYUNYU in South Korea, while the studded belt was purchased during the Guangzhou trip from a curated store; the belt brand is DND4DES. Finally, the watch is a Piaget Upstream, given to me by my dad.”

Your style inspo: “I’ve never really thought about it, but I’d say my style leans towards avant-garde street. I never had a singular inspiration for how I dress—my style has developed over time. I experimented a lot when I was younger, but one thing that has stayed consistent is my love for textures and my selectivity.

If I don’t connect with a piece immediately or spend more than ten minutes circling back to it, I won’t buy it. My wardrobe is smaller than you might expect of a fashion design student, but I believe it’s more sustainable in the long run.”

Pang Jia Wei

Name: Nurkhairina Sophia

Occupation: Apparel Design and Merchandising Student

Tell us about your fit: “My style is inspired by blending Japanese accents with a modern touch, as I wanted to complement my final-year project brand, which has a traditional fisherman aesthetic. My top is a striped Japanese haori that I picked up at a flea market in Japan, and my bottoms are baggy jeans adorned with multiple rivets.”

Your style inspo:
“Since it was the opening of the Design Show, I wanted my outfit to reflect my final-year project brand by adding a traditional touch. More generally, I’m inspired by TikTok creators like Nadhrah and designers such as Yohji Yamamoto and Jun Nakamura.”
