What To Get From Prada's Spring/Summer 2023 Collection

Acts of reality.

Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada have done it again.
Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada have done it again.

Raf Simon's and Miuccia Prada's Prada Spring/Summer 2023 runway show, held last year at the Fondazione Prada in Milan, can be best described as subtle subversion. Muted greys and nude colours opened the show, calling attention to the theme of the night – “Domestic Voyeurism”. To add to the eerie factor, the show space was dimly lit, with an eerie synth soundtrack by American producer Cliff Martinez accompanying the models as they walk.

Perhaps the most chilling part of the show: the over-extended false eyelashes on the models' upper eyelids, courtesy of British makeup maven Pat McGrath.

A sense of lightness was injected in the form of neon colours, with satin tops and dresses coming in bright orange and blue hues. Large tote bags and leather shoes weren't left out of the colour conversation. Scroll on for the best buys to get from the collection, including ready-to-wear pieces and bags.

Prada Moon nappa leather top handle bag, $3,600

Prada
1/10

First introduced in the show, the new Prada Moon bag is inspired by the early Aughts and features a belt-like buckle closure – a design element that originally appeared in the brand's  Spring/Summer 2002 collection. Besides the distinct triangle Prada logo in enamel metal and obvious curved silhouette, another thing to note is the metallic eyelet and removable key ring (which signifies the bag as being part of the Re-Edition line).

Nappa leather tote bag, $5,400

Prada
2/10

Mimicking the textured paper that was a key motif at the show venue and in the collection, this sage green leather tote bag has a intentionally wrinkled paper suface that creates an interesting visual and tactile effect. It also comes in three other colours: black, slate grey and alabaster pink.

Nappa leather top handle bag, $6,200

Prada
3/10

A re-issue of a bag style from 2001, this pastel pink top handle also comes with a detachable leather strap that transforms it into a casual crossbody bag.

Leather pumps, $2,050

Prada
4/10

The slight curved toe gives this elegant leather pump an unexpectedly fun factor.

Cotton shirt with appliques, $3,400

Prada
5/10

This crew neck shirt is a visually fun piece, with its embroidered floral appliques on the front and back, as well as trompe l'oeil panels by its sides.

Silk skirt, $3,300

Prada
6/10

We love the rawness and sensual energy of this midi-skirt thanks to the side slit that makes it appear like a rip. And yes, the uneven dyed effect is intentional.

Cotton sweater, $1,750

Prada
7/10

You can't ever go wrong with red, be it a red lip or this flaming red, three quarter sleeve ribbed sweater. Did somebody say power fit?

Silk dress, $5,000

Prada
8/10

This A-line mini dress was designed to simulate the wrinkled texture one might find on a piece of paper.

Wool jacket with nylon crepe bow, $7,000

Prada
9/10

Inspired by the form of a classic tuxedo, this single-breasted jacket is characterised by the detachable nylon crepe bow on the collar that gives this masculine piece a feminine touch.

Linen button-up, $2,250

Prada
10/10

This slim-fit button-up shirt looks simple on the surface but it's actually made from a paper-based technical fabric.
