Women In Suits: The Oversized Outerwear Trend That's Here To Stay

It's never too late to invest in a suit – let alone an oversized, slouchy number. From Gucci to Dries Van Noten, we've rounded up 5 of our favourite looks from the fall 2019 runways

In 1966, Yves Saint Laurent made fashion history when he introduced the world to Le Smoking, a suit for women that rewrote the rules of what feminine dress codes should look like. However, it wasn't until 1975, when Helmut Newton photographed the suit on an androgynous-looking model in a dark Parisian alleyway that the Le Smoking came onto its own as a fashion icon.

Since then, designers have put their own spin on the suit, often utilising it as a symbol of feminine power and sex appeal. For the upcoming fall/winter 2019 season, designers have upsized its rakish allure by cutting it loose and introducing a louche attitude to this boardroom staple. To give you more reasons to suit up, we have rounded up five of our favourite slouchy and oversized two-piece wonders that appeared on the fall 2019 runways.
