Yves Saint Laurent is moving to a new historic heritage site in the heart of the left bank: Penthemont Cistercian Abbey. (But not so soon, they're just waiting for a few Ikea stools to arrive first).
Penthemont Cistercian Abbey at 37 rue de bellechasse will be ready for Slimane and Co in 2018.
This architectural complex, which dates back to 1671, was mainly reworked during the 18th century, and has evolved with history. Converted into barracks for the imperial and then royal guard after the revolution, it then became the HQ of the Ministry of Defence during the Third Republic. The abbey is currently used by the Ministry of French Armed Forces.
The abbey is at the heart of the left bank, it evokes the spirit of ‘Saint Laurent Rive Gauche’, and is an homage to Monsieur Saint Laurent. This is where the YSL showooms and head office will be headquartered.
Presently, the Yves Saint Laurent ‘Salons de Couture’ and Paris ateliers are located at the Hotel de Senecterre on 24 rue de l’Universite.
Hedi Slimane and the Studio will still be based in Los Angeles. Watch this space for updates.
