The look that British brands went for was less aristocratic and stodgy, and more refreshed and youthful. At Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, for instance, tartan was the print of choice for diaphanous ruffled dresses. Meanwhile, Irish designer Simone Rocha took the cake for her demi-couture hybrid confections that mashed up suits and trench coats in Prince of Wales checks spliced with white lace dresses.
