One of the perks of being the face of Chanel is getting first access to the brand’s latest creations. Just ask K-pop star Jennie Kim, who recently wowed at a Chanel Coco Crush fine jewellery pop-up event in Seoul with a striking piece of jewellery that left everyone guessing: is it a necklace, a watch, or headphones? The answer is all of the above. This eye-catching piece is the Premiere Sound, a limited-edition reinterpretation of the Premiere – Chanel’s first-ever timepiece, introduced in 1987 – cleverly reimagined as a long sautoir necklace.
The Premiere Sound is a hybrid of a sautoir necklace, a jewellery watch, and a pair of earphones.
With its octagonal case reminiscent of the stopper on the Chanel N°5 perfume bottle, this quartz-powered watch is the epitome of elegant, timeless design. Its steel chain and leather strap echo the decorative chains of iconic bags like the Classic or the Chanel 22, giving it a unique jewellery-watch hybrid identity. Add to that a black-lacquered dial, an 18K yellow-gold-coated steel case measuring 26.1mm by 20mm, and a steel crown adorned with an onyx cabochon. The watch will launch on September 2 in Chanel’s Watches and Fine Jewellery and fashion boutiques, retailing for $21,450.

Arnaud Chastaingt, Director of the Chanel Watchmaking Creation Studio, took the design a step further by transforming it into a must-have fashion accessory: wired earphones. This nod to the nostalgic 1990s and Y2K trend, already popular among style icons like Dua Lipa and Kaia Gerber, and meme-ified on the @wireditgirls account.
Chanel ambassador Jennie truly showcased the Premiere Sound as the ultimate style statement at their event in early July.
The earphone wires integrate seamlessly into the necklace and connect to any iPhone, Android smartphone, or audio device with a standard 3.5mm jack. With a built-in microphone and remote control, you can adjust the volume, control playback, and take calls. For audiophiles, the earphones is said to offer passive noise insulation with a sensitivity of 89dB and an impedance of 16 Ohms—ideal for enjoying your music in style.
