Louis Vuitton is the latest fashion house to enter the beauty game, and it’s doing so with an industry Mother at the helm – Pat McGrath. The French luxury brand is launching La Beaute Louis Vuitton with the British makeup legend, who has long been the creative force behind its runway looks. Now, she officially steps into the role of Creative Director of Cosmetics.
Reports suggest that McGrath has been developing this line for the past four years, and Louis Vuitton has even established a dedicated metier – a specialised division that applies the brand’s signature artisanal craftsmanship to beauty. The highly anticipated line is set to debut in Autumn 2025.
Pat McGrath drew inspiration from Louis Vuitton’s archives, exploring vanity cases from 1854 and beauty essentials from the 1920s.
While cosmetics may be a new venture for Louis Vuitton, beauty has always been embedded in its history. Since its founding, the house has embraced beauty through its travel heritage, crafting innovative vanity cases designed to transport delicate toiletries, perfumes, and cosmetics.
In the 1920s, Louis Vuitton introduced luxurious powder compacts, brushes, and mirrors. Two standout examples remain preserved in the brand’s archives: Le Milano, a bespoke kit created in 1925 for soprano Marthe Chenal, and an exquisite toiletry case designed for Polish composer Jan Paderewski. Additionally, the first Louis Vuitton handbags for women were conceived with space for daily essentials, including cosmetics.

“Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beaute Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftmanship, creativity and innovation. The beauty universe is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty," says McGrath.
Though details remain under wraps, initial press images tease a close-up of a powder compact and a red lipstick, both emblazoned with the Louis Vuitton monogram. Reports state the line will feature tinted lip balms, eyeshadows, and a range of small leather goods – including lipstick cases and mini trunks – designed to house the new beauty essentials.
