For the bookworm who also loves seeing their favourite stories come to life, here’s a list of our most anticipated film adaptations that are dropping this 2026.
1. The Devil Wears Prada 2
What it’s about: Two decades since the release of the original cult classic, the entire original main cast of The Devil Wears Prada returns for its much anticipated sequel. It follows Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) returning to the fictional fashion magazine, Runway, to help her ex-boss and mentor, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), navigate the decline of print media. Gird your loins!

2. The Odyssey
What it’s about: Christopher Nolan’s latest project is an epic project: Homer’s The Odyssey. This multi-million-dollar film project has an A-list cast, featuring Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Robert Pattinson as Antinous and more. For the uninitiated: the story follows Odysseus as he endures a dangerous voyage back to his home kingdom, Ithica, facing ancient monsters like the Sirens, the Cyclops and the with Circe with his fleet of ships.

3. Verity
What it’s about: BookTok regulars would probably be very familiar with the name Colleen Hoover and her repertoire of romance books. Following two book to movie adaptations (It Ends With Us in 2024 and Regretting You in 2025), a third film is currently on the way: Verity. This story leans more psychological thriller, following its main character, Lowen Ashleigh (Anne Hathaway), and how she moves in with a family and uncovers a dark secret.

4. Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping
What it’s about: For the dystopia teen fiction lovers who were obsessed with The Hunger Games trilogy back in the 2010s, this is one movie you need to keep an eye out for. Following the first of the franchise’s prequels (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes in 2023), another one is in the works, and it’ll feature the backstory of beloved original character, Haymitch Abernathy. Featuring a cast of familiar faces like Maya Hawke and Elle Fanning, as well as young Hollywood favourites like McKenna Grace and Iris Apatow, this is definitely one of our most anticipated 2026 film drops.

5. Dune: Part 3
What it’s about: The final instalment of Dune’s film franchise is slated to drop at the end of this year. With new additions to its A-list cast including Robert Pattinson and Anya Taylor-Joy, this film is meant to conclude Paul Atreides’ (played by Timothee Chalamet) story. After Paul is deemed the Kwisatz Haderach (planet Dune’s messiah, essentially) he prepares to wage war on the rest of the universe and monopolise the spice trade — the perfect set up for an action-packed conclusion of this sci-fi classic.

6. The Love Hypothesis
What it’s about: One of BookTok’s favourite romances is getting movie adaptation, starring Lili Reinhart as its quirky main character, Olive Smith. A third-year biology PhD student, Smith grapples with managing her thesis and, after getting caught in a very compromising position, ends up in a fake-dating situation with professor, Adam Carlsen. It’s a classic grumpy-sunshine romance that’s light-hearted and set to draw out some giggles.

7. Sense & Sensibility
What it’s about: Another Austen book is getting a 21st century film remake — a big win for the classics section. More than three decades since its last theatrical adaptation, Sense and Sensibility is getting a new adaptation, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood. The story follows Elinor and her sister, Marianne, as they navigate life as impoverished teenagers in 18th Century England. They experience heartbreak and navigate social expectations, learning to balance — as the title suggests — emotions and rationalities.
