FEMALE Launches 'The Art Book' For April 2024

A few words from our editor-in-chief about this special edition of FEMALE this month

FEMALE was born as a traditional women’s fashion glossy in Singapore in 1974. This history explains our name. I’ve been asked before why we stick to it when our brand and identity have evolved considerably. To change it, however, would be to deny our legacy that has been enjoyed and is recognised by generations here. Also, I’ve always believed that it’s up to us to define our label, and the best way to get across what’s important to us is through the work that we put out.

Launching on April 9th, the April 2024 Art Book of FEMALE features three collectible covers

This special commemorative edition – launched in our 50th year in business – is meant to represent everything that we are and stand for today: a passionate (and playful!) documentor of style and youth culture; a steady champion and star-maker of emerging talents; a strong supporter of Singapore’s burgeoning arts and culture scene; and a proudly Singapore media brand that’s constantly rewriting the rules and reinventing itself, resolute to prove the global power and promise we have locally. Nearly every talent featured in or who worked on this issue, including all the models on our three covers and inside, calls Singapore home.

Incidentally, there’s a feminist slogan – coined in the 1970s – that goes, “the future is female”. What we want you to know with this edition is that FEMALE is the future.
