In the past year, the line between food and fashion seems to have completely evaporated. Considering that the phrase “We eat with our eyes” has become an everyday way of life, especially for Gen Z, it’s unsurprising that these two fields – once on polar opposites of the cultural cool scale – now make the perfect pairing.

Fuelling this movement further, though, has been the reality that much of the world (the luxury industry included) is in flux and nothing quite comforts like a good meal – or the conversations over one. In this issue, we cosy up to nine individuals in Singapore who are making the dining experience as much about style, creativity and community‐building as it is about food – all of them incidentally women, and nearly none of them with a formal training in the culinary arts.
