Owner Shahrem Selamat was previously the keyboardist in his own rock band, YingYang, during the 80s and 90s. What: This 85-year-old provision shop reopened at a new location in Tiong Bahru in September 2023, after closing down in March last year. Now situated on Seng Poh Lane, the stall is currently operated by third-generation owner Rodney Goh (pictured). It was founded by Goh’s grandfather, who emigrated to Singapore from China and established the business just before WWII. The storefront has also received a mini redesign, featuring an eye-catching red façade complemented by the stall’s old-school signboard.

What: Named after coffee bean wholesaler Tan Tiong Hoe, who was dedicated to the art and science of coffee roasting for over 50 years, Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee was founded by his son as a coffee bar. The cafe offers more than 20 different origins of specialty coffee from Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The menu includes options such as double espresso, long black, piccolo latte, cappuccino, and mocha latte. This homegrown roastery also supplies its beans to various F&B brands across Singapore.
