Karl Lagerfeld Is The Inspiration For This Secret Pop-Up Dinner

The location: Revealed only on the day itself. The theme: A tribute to one of the fashion world's greatest icons, Karl Lagerfeld.

Founded by Stuart Wee and Emily Png, the Andsoforth pop-up dinner concept was conceived after the duo's similar experiences in London's underground dining sub-culture. To put it simply, attending a dinner here is like going for an immersive play, where you are both spectator and participant (willing or not).

With a creative team comprising actors, set designers, chefs, costume designers, scriptwriters and sound scape artists, the outfit has held three sell-out shows in Singapore since organising its first one last May. Each dinner has its own thematic concept - so far, there's been one held on a make-believe ship, one amidst a bank heist and one involving scientists in lab coats.

Their fourth - and only fashion-inspired - installation (Aug 19-Sep 12) ventures into a dystopian future in "The Karl Experience". The concept: It's 2070 and resources are scarce, but an adventurous designer named Karl (yes, the character is loosely based on the Kaiser himself) goes on a journey to the past - aka 2015 - to gather materials to create his pieces. (We're hoping that they'll be along the lines of Raf Simon's sci-fi collection for Dior Pre-fall '15 and Hussein Chalayan's robot dresses with flaps that move.)

Food-wise, the four-course menu is prepared by Singaporean chef Glenn Tay, supplemented with innovative cocktails from bespoke bar Mixes From Mars. If you love a good surprise, you'll enjoy all two hours spent here.

$98 (Wed-Thu) and $108 (Fri-Sat), www.andsoforth.com.sg
