Ungatekeeping A Hidden Sourdough Cafe In Singapore That Can’t Be Found On Google Maps

Living Room is a cosy cafe tucked at the back of a curated homeware store at Chinatown. Here’s our review.

Nestled among gritty roadside eateries, a laundromat, and an old Chinese furniture shop at a corner of Chinatown, homeware store Late Morning is easy to skip right past if you’re not paying attention. Even more obscure is its connected cafe, Living Room, which just celebrated its soft launch this January 2026. Parked right at the back of the space and concealed from the entrance, this cosy hidden cafe is one you’d only wander into for two reasons: If you’re already part of the crowd that’s in the know (kudos to you), or if you’ve actually taken the time to enter the boutique for a proper browse of its curated goods.

Hidden gem status? It isn’t even listed on Google Maps at time of writing. But we’re not here to gatekeep. We checked out Living Room for ourselves, and here’s why you should give this homely spot a visit.

REVIEW: LIVING ROOM CAFE AT LATE MORNING

Vibe at Living Room cafe in Singapore:

Late Morning should give you an idea of Living Room’s ambience: pared back in an intentional way, and washed in soft, neutral hues. Fun fact, the cutlery you’ll be using is also available for purchase at the retail area.

There isn’t much seating space – less than 10 can dine comfortably indoors, while two small benches are parked at the back alley outside – so we suggest arriving early before others start streaming in. But it’s this very cosy nature of this hole-in-the-wall that allows you to slow down and soak in the moment– even if you’ve just hopped off a packed train and dodged your way through busy tourist-laden streets mere minutes before.

It’s a minimal menu of sweet and savoury open-faced sourdough toasts ($13) in four variants: charred chilli with ricotta, sun-dried tomato with rosemary, capsicum with balsamic vinegar, and blueberry with thyme and honey. A unanimous favourite at the table was the charred chilli toast, which brought an addictive kick of flavour without being overly spicy for breakfast. Our advice? Get one of each flavour and share them with a friend. But if you’re alone, or just here to snack light, opt for half-and-half slices at a top-up of $3 to get the best of two worlds without bursting at the seams.

Don’t skip out on the homemade Basque cheesecake ($8) either – the one here is served with unexpected condiments of salt, pink pepper, and a blob of lemon curd.

Coffees here are house-roasted, with options including an Einspanner and coconut Americano. Of course, there’s also the humble black or white coffee for your caffeine fix minus the frills.

Matcha fiends would also want to put Living Room on their lists. While not quite the sort of spot for strawberry matcha and other funky flavours, their modest line-up of the classic matcha latte, or matcha coconut, has been raved about by many a happy visitor. There’s also a zesty concoction of lemongrass, passionfruit and lime – something to jolt you right awake on lazy mornings and sleepy afternoons alike.

Living Room is located at 230 South Bridge Road (within Late Morning) and opens from Tuesdays to Sundays, 11am to 7pm. Follow them on Instagram: @livingroomsg.
