On the first Monday of May every year, the fashion world waits with bated breath to witness the theatrical spectacle that is the Met Gala. This year is no different. Fashion’s biggest night is back, and this time it’s happening on May 4, 2026. For the uninitiated, the Met Gala is an annual invitation-only event held to raise funds for Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute – also widely known as the night where Hollywood’s biggest names pull out their most glamorous looks.

Over the years, the Met Gala has seen iconic looks from celebrities like Blake Lively and Rihanna, who have consistently outdone themselves each year they’ve been invited. And how could we possibly forget the Met’s princess, Zendaya, whom we can only hope will be making an appearance to add to her long list of romantic looks we’ve seen this year. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what the celebs have in store for us, and with less than a week to go, here’s everything you need to know about the Met Gala 2026.

How much do Met Gala 2026 tickets cost?

With individual tickets to the Met Gala beginning at a hefty price of approximately $100,000 (and invites being extremely elusive), most of us will probably be tuning in to the spectacle virtually.

Where to watch the Met Gala 2026 livestreams?

You can watch the Met Gala on Vogue’s online platforms, such as YouTube and TikTok.

The official Vogue livestream begins on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 6am SGT (equivalent to Monday, May 4, 6pm EDT) and will last for a few hours as the celebrities ascend the iconic steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

What’s the theme and dress code for the Met Gala 2026?

As usual, the theme of the Met Gala falls in line with the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition of the year. This year’s theme is “Costume Art”, which explores the relationship between fashion, art and body. Invited guests are expected to follow the dress code of “Fashion Is Art”, which encourages them to treat their body like a blank canvas and express their own relationship to fashion as an embodied art form.

Who are the co-chairs and host committee of the Met Gala 2026?

It’s a given for Anna Wintour, the woman behind it all, to co-chair the Met Gala every year. Alongside her, a power-packed trio consisting of Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, tennis superstar Venus Williams and iconic singer-songwriter Beyonce – who’s also making her long-awaited return to the gala after ten years – will be co-chairing the 2026 Met Gala.

This year’s host committee consists of an exciting mix of actresses, singers, models and even professional athletes. It’s chaired by Anthony Vaccarello and Zoe Kravitz and includes standout names like Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Blackpink’s Lisa, Sam Smith, Alex Consani, Adut Akech, Paloma Elsesser, Angela Bassett, Gwendoline Christie, Teyana Taylor, Misty Copeland and A’ja Wilson among others.
