The Miu Miu Upcycled collection, which debuted five years ago and now – for the first time – brings on board a collaborator: Academy Award-winning costume, production and set designer Catherine Martin. If her name doesn’t ring a bell, her work will. She’s been behind the looks of films such as Baz Luhrmann’s iconic Romeo + Juliet (1996), Moulin Rouge! (2001) and Elvis (2022) – all hyper-stylish, vintage-inflected, pop culture-coded affairs, which is also what you can expect from this Miu Miu collection.

WHAT’S GONE INTO IT

Each of the three main themes has been crafted using a specific category of vintage garments sourced from specialist vendors around the world, then restored, deconstructed and reconstructed. Marinier is based on vintage denim and striped tees that have been patchworked into jeans and jackets; Evening features vintage blazers updated with ribbons and custom crest patches, as well as lightweight dresses made from vintage lingerie; and Foulard – as its name suggests – offers one-of-a-kind halter neck tops and skirts made from vintage silk scarves.
