Another year brings a fresh lineup of music festivals, both near and far. Travelling for a festival can be a daunting yet ultimately rewarding task – from planning your pre- and post-festival downtime, choosing the perfect festival outfit, rallying the right friends, to fitting in the usual city sightseeing with the little free time you have.

With the festival calendar shaping up for the year, we’ve rounded up some of the most exciting destinations. While major events like Glastonbury, Coachella, and Primavera often dominate the scene, all three have already sold out. So here are the festivals you still have a chance of attending this year.

Who’s playing: Antal, Soichi Terada, Yu Su, Danilo Plessow, Dean Chew, Mogwaa, Mary Sue & the Clementi Sound Appreciation Club, La Mamie’s, Daryl Knows and more.

Why go: There are woodland festivals, and then there’s Gottwood Festival’s woodland paradise. It’s a stunning sight that might just end up as your new festival destination favourite.

PRIMAVERA SOUND PORTO 2025

What’s it about: Barcelona’s Primavera Sound has consistently been one of the can’t-miss festivals around the world, due in part to its comprehensive line-ups and creative programming. However, with Barcelona fully sold out, this is more than a viable option for those who missed out.

Who’s playing: Charli XCX, Haim, Jamie XX, Deftones, Beach House, Fontaines D.C., The Dare, Turnstile, TV On The Radio and more

Why go: While not sporting the sprawling line-up of its sibling, Primavera’s Porto edition has always excelled in capturing the festival brand’s spirit with four days of incredible live music.

WE OUT HERE 2025

Who’s playing: Michael Kiwanuka, Incognito, Kokoroko, Nala Sinephro, Pa Salieu and more to be announced.

Why go: This is where you’ll get to catch some of the most mesmerizing talents in jazz today. And with Singapore missing Sing Jazz in recent years, this will more than make up for the loss.

DEKMANTEL 2025

What’s it about: When it comes to the forefront of house and techno, Dekmantel is where it’s at. While recent years have seen an infusion of more palatable and marketable sounds, the festival has still excelled at unearthing the underground.

Who’s playing: To be confirmed, although you can expect big names in both DJs and live acts. Although, the point of the festival is discovery, so going in blind will never be a bad thing at Dekmantel.

Why go: If you count yourself a serious partygoer, a Dekmantel trip must be done at least once in your life.

When: To be confirmed, but the festival is usually held in July or August.

Where: Amsterdamse Bos, Amstelveen, the Netherlands

WHEN WE WERE YOUNG 2025

What’s it about: Some may see it as a pure nostalgia cash-in, but When We Were Young has proven to be the ultimate playground for the pop-punk faithful.

Why go: Not only will you get to tick off multiple names on your tear-stained bucket list from 2005, you’ll get to see some bands perform an album in full, or play a setlist dedicated to specific eras. Where: Las Vegas Festival Grounds, Nevada, US

MAHO RASOP 2025

What’s it about: With the disappearance of Laneway Singapore and Neon Lights post-Covid, Maho Rasop has arguably taken the mantle of the annual indie rock festival destination in Southeast Asia.

Who’s playing: To be confirmed, although recent years have featured AIR, St. Vincent, Idles, Interpol, amongst others. The line-ups often overlap with those by Indonesia’s Joyland and Hong Kong’s Clockenflap, so you’ll have multiple options to catch your favourite acts. Plus, Boiler Room has been a consistent presence here, so you’re guaranteed a good sweat.

Why go: For a festival located outside of Bangkok, and right smack in a desert-like location, it’s remarkably accessible, easy to navigate, and full of amenities. You won’t get a heat-stroke here.

When: To be confirmed, but the festival is usually held in November.

Where: ESC Park, Bangkok, Thailand
