Things To Do In Singapore: The Orient Express Exhibition Kicks Off + Two Live Gigs

As we slowly ease into Phase 3 of the pandemic restrictions, gigs – in person, not streamed – are starting to rev up once more, albeit at a more intimate pace. Fans of songstress Aisyah Aziz (pictured here in Female's Dec 2020 issue), crooner Nathan Hartono and instrumental band Lorong Boys are in for a treat as the musicians will be putting on a live show (a matinee and an evening show) at Pasir Panjang Power Station this Sunday.
The show is titled 'Flock – The Xmas Edition' and it's organised by music collective 24OWLS – the same people responsible for Laneway Singapore’s most recent editions. It's intended to be an exclusive showcase for musicians to present original content and fine-hone their skills at live shows. All three acts will be debuting new songs and material. And coming off many months of only digital performances, people are naturally excited. “It’s an emotional thing - music is meant to be consumed live," says Jonathan Shin of the Lorong Boys. It's a good weekend for the resumption of live music – over at Marina Bay Sands' theatre hall, prolific gig promoters Collective Minds are putting on what is billed as the largest live show since the circuit breaker. The two-day event, aptly titled Back to Live, features both established artistes as well as up-and-comers, including Benjamin and Narelle Kheng, Charlie Lim, Aisyah Aziz, Linying, Sezairi and rising model/our August 2020 cover girl Keyana (pictured here – it'll be her first live show to boot).
In case you're wondering, the organisers have put in place extensive safety measures – for example, all attendees (maximum of 500) are required to clear a Antigen Rapid Test (ART), and the event is part of the Ministry of Health's pilot programme for large live events, so rest assured. The live entertainment industry in particular has been heavily pummeled this year by the pandemic, so show some support by getting your tickets here.
