5 Reasons Why You Should Check Out New Concept Bar Laut

Tucked unassumingly along Stanley Street is Laut, a cocktail bar that’s centered around experimenting and making the most of the diversity of Southeast Asian produce and flavours.

It’s a little sweetly ironic that Laut, one of the most exciting new bars in town, has got a totally unassuming entrance that’s marked only by a small sign. It’s not a secret bar per se, but it does remind you a little bit of true speakeasies – a gem for those in the know, and easily missed otherwise by people walking by.

It’s ironic because Laut opened earlier this year, during a time of circuit breaker measures that actually brought to mind Prohibition-era laws. Eating and drinking outside became prohibited, and indeed if there were any rule-breakers, they would have to operate with secrecy not unlike the Americans almost exactly a century ago.

That of course left the owners of Laut with a dilemma: what were they going to do with a great concept, space, and food and drinks programme now that people couldn’t eat out? The answer was a very swift and rapid switch to an online platform to facilitate orders and deliveries.

It’s still available if you’re so inclined to staying home, but now that the doors to Laut are open – reservations strongly recommended – there’s much more reason (we’ve got five, in fact) to go in person to experience this unique and very wonderful bar.
