Shye

Self-made bedroom-pop sensation Shye is no stranger to the spotlight. At just 24 years old, she’s already had her face plastered on a New York City Times Square billboard and made history as the first Singaporean invited to Chanel’s 2025 Paris Fashion Week show. Now, she’s returning to where it all began – her bedroom-pop roots – with the release of a new single and a fresh album on the horizon.

Three years after the release of her fourth album 9LIVES, Shye returns with her long-awaited fifth album The Doves Came Home, arriving on May 8, 2026. Shaped by over two years of creative exploration, her forthcoming album draws listeners into a world of vulnerability, self-reflection, and quiet revelations – blending dream-pop and soft rock into an atmospheric body of work that’s both haunting and healing.

Shye New Single I Always Knew

If there’s one thing Shye knows, it’s how to tell a story with her music. Preceding her newest album, Shye has since released her newest single I Always Knew on May 6. The deeply personal and haunting track delves into the quiet devastation of recognising you’re going to hurt someone you love and choosing inaction over intervention.

Inspired by the iconic Japanese psychological survival horror game and film Silent Hill’s use of fog, ambient noise and looping repetition, the single unfolds at a restrained pace that mirrors emotional paralysis. Here, the reference is reimagined as a psychological refuge – a maze of recurring patterns and false escapes that leaves listeners suspended in a haunting, unresolved emotional space. This influence is extended into the song’s sonic landscape, layering hazy textures that feel spellbinding.

As with her previous works, Shye lets the soundscape lead before the narrative fully takes shape. Leaning into shoegaze layered with guitar-soaked melodies, the track sets the tone for the album to come. Check out her music video for I Always Knew below:
