If you’ve been following Singapore’s music scene for a while, you’re probably more than familiar with the name Shye. An OG of Singapore’s modern bedroom pop scene, the self-taught singer-songwriter and producer is known for her dreamy blend of indie-pop and alt-rock sounds. Barging onto the local music scene at just 16, Shye has carved out a name for herself over the past eight years of her career – releasing a slate of well-received projects and singles that she has performed at festivals and concerts all over the globe.

Following her single I Always Knew which set the tone for the album to follow, Shye returns with her latest project The Doves Came Home, an atmospheric ‘90s dream-pop and shoegazed-inspired record. This sophomore album is a collection of songs that journey through memory, distance and the quiet act of coming home to oneself – featuring poetic tracks born from a two-year evolution of sound and self.

Those familiar with her sound will know that the singer doesn’t shy away from emotional introspection and vulnerability. Similarly, this deeply personal 14-track record details her evolution from uncertainty into self-discovery. The result is a haunting yet eerily healing album that allows listeners to flow through the same transition of who they were and who they are becoming.

The heart of this sophomore project is the focus track In The End – a melancholic piece grounded in the understanding that things are constantly changing. Inspired by dream-pop and alt-rock veterans like Cocteau Twins, Ride and The Smashing Pumpkins, In The End is an emotional track rooted deeply in the record’s central theme of letting go.
