Senior Fashion Writer Imran Jalal Shares His Dream Shoot Location

As part of this month's focus on the disrupters shaking up fashion, beauty and design now, the Female team shares the wildest names and things they’re into (like, really, really into). Here, senior fashion writer Imran Jalal shares his.

“In the pictures I style, nature has always been a big inspiration, and the weirder and more unexpected, the better."

"Socotra, an island off the Yemeni coast in the Indian Ocean, is a desolate spot inhabited by Bedouin tribes, and its environmental makeup is the stuff of Tim Walker photographs. Imagine a sandy terrain strewn with rocks, misty limestone and granite mountain ranges, desert roses with bulbous trunks that emerge from rocks, and forests of dragon blood trees with their futuristic mushroom-like canopies."

"Get me some Iris van Herpen, Maison Margiela and Schiaparelli couture, and I’ll be ready to recreate my fashion interpretation of the 15th century Dutch masterpiece ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’.”

An adapted version first appeared in Female's September 2016 issue.
