Unchild is the newest South Korean girl group to join the power-packed roster of existing 5th generation K-pop groups that have introduced us to the likes of Katseye and Illit. Debuting under High Up Entertainment, this rookie group is the agency’s first girl group since STAYC, and features six members of Korean, Chinese and Japanese descent that have been trainees with the agency since 2024. Two years later, they’re barging onto the scene with their first song debuting on April 21 – here’s everything we know about them so far.
Who is Unchild?
Unchild is a six-member K-pop girl group comprising Heekie, Yeeun, Tina, Ako, Evon and Haeun, who are between the ages of 17 to 20. If the last member’s name rings a bell, you might know her as dance prodigy Na Haeun – a former child YouTuber widely popular in the Korean entertainment scene during the 2010s. Long-time K-pop stans will definitely remember her viral dance covers during the breaks of the Melon Music Awards back in 2017 to 2019, or her time as a contestant on reality survival shows Star King and K-Pop Star 4. Yes, Haeun is back and officially debuting in a K-pop girl group – obviously, as the main dancer – alongside five other members.
Now to address the question on everyone’s mind: what exactly does Unchild mean? Well, the name “Unchild” combines the prefix “un-”, with “child” to symbolise non-conformist energy towards traditional expectations. Essentially, the group name signifies the artists’ embracing individuality and defying norms – a motto evident in the group’s sound and aesthetic.
What is Unchild’s concept?
One look at their concept photos tells you that this sextet is anything but basic. Bold neon hair, mismatched manicure sets and punky high school-esque outfits – it’s clear that Unchild is maximalist at their core. The group leans heavily into a vibrant aesthetic with a kitschy and unconventional edge.
Styled in a playful yet rebellious way, Unchild fully embraces their quirky energy. Surely their name has raised a few eyebrows, but if anything, their choice of an unusual group name has only proven their refusal to be reduced to just another cookie-cutter girl group.

Unchild officially debuts on April 21, 2026 with the release of their debut song We Are Unchild. The debut track is a punky garage-inspired pop song that features electric guitar riffs and rock influences.
