Dior’s Fall 2026 Collection Makes Self-Expression An Effortless Affair
The boundaries between the everyday and the extraordinary blur, with Dior’s house codes reworked as wardrobe essentials by Jonathan Anderson.
By Carlos Keng,
Tapping into “the power of fashion to rewire the everyday”, creative director Jonathan Anderson has wittily reworked Dior’s house codes into wardrobe essentials that surprise and suit a multitude of attitudes. Cue the Bar jacket – now softened, or enlarged into a coat in oversized houndstooth – and silk denim jeans with extra‑wide legs that drape skirt‑like at the sides. The Medaillon pumps – a new signature featuring 18th‑century‑inspired discs each engraved with the word “Dior” – are at once statement‑making and easy to wear, while 3D flower appliques and sculptural jewellery lend feminine dresses a welcome edge.
Thanks to a couturier’s attention to detail, even the simplest of pieces become occasion‑worthy. The draped dress, for example, which resembles an extra‑large silk scarf that has been artfully folded and pinned, is a refreshingly modern take on a dressmaking technique that has been signature to the house since its debut in 1947 and has all the makings of a future classic. Ditto the Medaillon Buckle mules, which adapt the Medaillon’s ribbon‑embellished metal frame into an elegant clasp.
Unexpected silhouettes, textures and embellishments lend a sense of whimsy to a collection rooted in muted, easy‑to‑wear colours – from dresses with bustle‑inspired sides to the Lady Dior in pastel pink with a contrasting tufted canvas finish.
