Zheshi Afandi at LASALLE Show Exhibition 2025
Athirah Annissa

Name: Zheshi Afandi

Age: 23

Occupation: Illustrator

The fit: “My lucky cat dress is from a UK-based brand called Run and Fly but I bought it second hand off Vinted! The shoes are from the Heaven Marc Jacobs x Doctor Martens collaboration. It was a purchase I really had to think about but it was a birthday treat for myself and I got to make friends with the girl working at the Heaven store so that made it extra special! My bag is from Jellycat. It was a birthday gift from my boyfriend, and the cat looks like my own cat Billy, who serves as the muse for my illustrations."

The most precious item in her wardrobe: “I don’t shop a lot and only buy things I know I'll love for a long time. Before I purchase something I try to imagine myself in the same dresses, Mary Janes and bags when I'm a little old lady. I would say many things are precious to me, but one item I can mention is my Halloween-themed Little Twin Stars purse from Irregular Choice.”

Where she shops: “A big part of my wardrobe is from overseas brands that I collect when I travel. It holds more sentimental value and I feel more special!  A couple favourite brands are Lazy Oaf & Unif. Otherwise, most of my clothing is from Carousell, Vinted or thrifted in charity shops.”

Her future aspirations: “I really want to be a children's book illustrator and to work in the publishing industry. But I also aim to be a full time multimedia artist like the collective @pulau.pulao, who I am currently apprenticing with.”

Athirah Annissa

Name: Edna Sun Yi Min

Age: 31

Occupation: Freelance graphic designer and nail artist

The fit: “My cap is from VOU Kyoto, a creative gallery with a small selection of art pieces by artists. The top is a thrifted piece from Engineered Garments, my trousers are from POOL and I’m carrying a shopping bag from Aa Furniture. The shoes are Camper and my rings are from Simuero. My nail set is by Part Time Nails.”

What inspires her style: “I would say it’s a mix of textures, prints, colours and humour. I love anything that makes me laugh for more than two seconds. I can’t pinpoint a particular style, but I think it’s always a mix because I’m ever-evolving.”

On her jobs and how they influence her fashion: “Being creative has made me more aware that everything I choose to own is a part of my personality. When it all comes together, it makes sense—because I’m not trying to be someone else. I’m perhaps trying to communicate a feeling I have on that day. It also opens me up to so many interesting fashion choices and graphics. Fashion isn’t just about clothes and shoes; that’s why I ventured into nail painting as a form of expression. They’re accessories too—just like wearing rings on your fingers!”

Where she gets inspiration for her nail art: “We get inspired by everything that is art. I really love ceramics and furniture, so that’s often a starting point. But as I dig deeper, I’m also discovering more installation artists. Even nature—like the shells of bugs, the wings of butterflies, or the spores of a mushroom—can be a brilliant source of inspiration.”

The thrift find she’s most proud of: “I’m trying to adopt a thrift-only mindset these days. I thrifted a vintage Prada shoulder bag with silver handles for $100.”

Athirah Annissa

Name: Xu Jiayuan

Age: 21

Occupation: Creative Direction For Fashion student

The fit: “The jacket draped over my shoulders is a 1980s German field jacket I thrifted in Malaysia. The pins and badges are pieces I’ve collected over the years. I’ve also hung a sewing needle holder from an antique store in Paris and a keychain I found in an old furniture store in Antwerp on it.

My necklaces are a mix of random finds: a dog tag that came with my boxing gloves, a rosary thrifted in Japan, a choker from Number (N)ine, a cross I made from nails and a fishing hook, and two pieces from Chrome Hearts.

On my wrist is a silver Native American cuff, a Taoist bracelet, a watch from my dad and a bracelet from a market in Antwerp. For rings, I’m wearing Vivienne Westwood ones I thrifted in the UK, one I found at Ressurack Vintage Market, a few handmade ones from a friend, and another from Chrome Hearts.”

The rest of the look: “The top is from Mastermind Japan—I got it from a store in the basement of Peninsula Plaza. My trousers are from Taobao, and I’ve accessorised them with a Margiela necklace from Upstairs Garments, two silver coin chain belts, a leather bag strap (the bag is from Re.dmg), and a keychain with trinkets like a belt buckle and an old key. My Puma racing shoes are from MEMENTO STORE in Bangkok.”

Favourite designer: “Right now, I’d say Jun Takahashi, who created Undercover. I love how he brought punk elements to the runway and added deliberate storytelling to his collections.”

Dream designer purchase: “It’s always changing, but right now it would be anything jeweller Shaun Leane did for McQueen.”

His advice on finding your personal style: “Try everything. Don’t be afraid to experiment. I still have things in my wardrobe that make me cringe today, but it’s all part of the journey. Eventually, you’ll find something you like and stick with it long enough to put together your own unique style.”

Athirah Annissa

Name: Atiqah Nadhirah

Age: 23

Occupation: Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s in Fashion Media & Industries

The fit: “I got my shirt from 2nd Street—I believe it’s by a brand called United Tokyo—and my skirt is from H&M from years ago. My platform boots are from Asos, and the bag belonged to my aunt; it’s from the early 2000s. I actually bought my necklace and cuff bracelets for a shoot from Taobao. The beaded one is from a friend, and I have this cool bangle from Takara House!”

What inspires her style: “I’m very inspired by early 2000s runways, particularly the works of Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester and Yohji Yamamoto. I like to keep things simple yet slightly elevated.”

Favourite designer: “My favourite designer is, of course, none other than Rick Owens—and I’d love to own a pair of his Kiss heels, the platform ones with the clear heels! Realistically, would I ever wear them out? Rarely. But it would be a dream to have them.”

Her hot take on fashion: “Following trends doesn’t necessarily make you fashionable.”

Music she’s loving right now: “I listen to a lot, but my top five picks would be Dean, saraunh0ly, MIRRAR, Tabber and Don Toliver.”

The fit: “My jacket is from my seamstress at People’s Park Centre—she keeps vintage blazers from Hong Kong. The bag is from Decathlon, the jeans are from Stakeout, and the belt is from Shopee. My necklace is from Rebel Label, and the rings were inherited from my grandaunt. Everything else is second-hand.”

What inspires his style: “For this outfit, it’s giving 1980s coporate girly —with the cinched waist and shoulder pads. I like playing around with textures, materials, colours and themes, but it always revolves around a silhouette that’s tight at the waist, because I find that to be most flattering for my frame.”

The most precious item in his wardrobe: “Probably this blazer! It’s well-constructed—no darts, all panels—and buying it from my tailor opened the door for me to express myself through what I wear.”

His favourite designer: “In principle, Vivienne Westwood. She flipped the fashion scene from the bottom up, drawing influence from the punk movement and bringing it into high fashion. I take a similar approach in my interior design work. I like that it feels more grounded.”

His tip on personal style: “Ninety-five per cent of the thought that goes into what you wear needs to happen at the time of purchase—not when you’re standing in front of your wardrobe. With each new thing you buy, you need to assess its quality, whether it works with what you already own, how many different settings it can be worn in, and whether its style is timeless enough to still be wearable five or even ten years later.

Blazers work well for me because I can dress them up with trendier accessories, and dress them down for more formal occasions if my job calls for it. I don’t run out of things to wear because I only own pieces that are versatile.”

Name: Sen Misaki (Mei) C.

Age: 23

Occupation: Recent graduate from Creative Direction For Fashion

The fit: “My top is a gift. My bottom is made up of two skirts layered atop one another, both thrifted. My bag is vintage Coach.”

What inspires her style: “Music and mood. I don’t have specific inspirations so much as a desire to honour my vision. The DNA of that vision is influenced by space, nature and music. I like to think of myself as a walking muse of my own story.”

Most precious item in her wardrobe: “It’s got to be the most personal and worn-out item I own—my floral boots. I search for them every now and then, but I’ve never been able to find them again.”

An era of fashion she loves: “Right now, it’s the 1960s. They blended casual wear with retro-futurism, psychedelic patterns and all that colour. Casual wear had character—with a capital C. Everything was amped up. I mean, oversized shades? Who would think of that nowadays if not for referencing the past?”

Most expensive item in her wardrobe: “The priciest and oldest thing I’ve owned was a no-brand blouse from the 1900s that I bought online from a museum archive.”

Name: Lim Katherine Balzomo

Age: 22

Occupation: Creative Direction For Fashion graduate

The fit: “My white top is from Muji, the jacket is thrifted from Central Market in KL, the plaid skirt is also thrifted from Lucky Plaza, and the Doc Martens are from @ayoasiaboots.”

Most precious item in her wardrobe: “It’s funny you ask, because I actually did a whole project on this before called Stories from Our Wardrobe. Mine’s a ring my lola—that’s ‘grandmother’ in Tagalog—gave me during one of my trips back to the village in the Philippines. I wear it every day. It feels like a little part of her swagger got passed down to me. She’s a cool lola. We love her.”

Inspiration behind her hair: “The inspiration was to achieve an androgynous balance. My sense of masculinity and femininity shifts daily—based on environment, circumstance and mood—so having a versatile haircut that caters to that has been an absolute dream.”

Her secret to making an outfit stand out: “Contrast is a safe bet. Whether it’s colour, silhouette or material, be playful with it. The beautiful part of styling yourself is the experimenting.”

Music she’s loving right now: “I’m back to listening to The Script—purely for the bliss of nostalgia.”

Name: Rusydi Jufri

Age: 27

Occupation: Film student

The fit: “The outerwear is from Chota House and 2nd Street. My white T-shirt underneath is from a random thrift store in Kuala Lumpur. The trousers are from a Bangkok brand called Kalazea, and the Ukrainian boots are from Grailed.”

His hobbies: “Skateboarding has always been my go-to since eight years ago, but over time, I started skating less due to life commitments. Through skateboarding, I developed an interest in fashion and gradually learnt the finer details of how to dress well.”

A movie we should all be streaming right now: "Her (2013), directed by Spike Jonze."

A cool spot to hit for accessories: "310 Woodland at Orchard Gateway."

Athirah Anissa

Name: Nurul Nabilah

Age
: 25

Occupation:
 Photographer, editor, and fresh graduate

The fit: “The scarves on my head and shoulders are from The Fashion Pulpit. The dress and midi skirt are from Anaabu. My shoes are Nike Air Rift. The watch is thrifted from 2nd Street in Kuala Lumpur, and the rest of my accessories are from Lovisa.”

What inspires her style: “I’m inspired by Japanese and bohemian styles—both emphasise texture and layering. I usually mix the two by layering different pieces to create depth and contrast. It’s a way for me to express individuality while staying comfortable and grounded in natural tones and fabrics.”

Her secret to making an outfit stand out: “Thrifting and supporting local fashion labels. They often offer unique, interesting pieces you won’t find anywhere else, which adds a personal and authentic touch to my style. Thrifting also helps you find high-quality, timeless items that look polished without breaking the bank. It’s a great way to stay stylish, sustainable, and support creative talents in the community.”

An item she can’t live without:
“My hijab. It’s my statement piece and an extension of who I am. Beyond symbolising my faith, it allows me to express my style and personality through different fabrics, colours and ways of styling. It gives me confidence and helps me feel grounded, strong and proud every day. More than just a piece of fabric, it reflects my identity, my beliefs and how I define beauty on my own terms.”

Favourite designer and dream purchase: “Kimberly Gordon, the designer of Selkie. I would love to own a Selkie dress, even though it’s way out of my budget.”

Most precious item in her wardrobe: “A bag a close friend made for me from scratch. It’s heart-shaped, white, with black ribbons, lace and bat wings.”

A trend she hopes to see more people rocking: “I’d love to see more people in Singapore layering jeans with dresses. I’ve seen it a lot online and want to try it myself too.”

Most precious item in her wardrobe: “A grey knitted cardigan I thrifted a while back in Germany. I call it my emotional support cardigan—it pairs well with everything!”

A trend she wishes more people were rocking: “Pattern on pattern! Personally, I find it tricky to layer and mix different patterns, but I’d love to see how others style theirs.”

Music she’s listening to: “I listen to a lot of music, but my all-time favourites are King Krule and Earl Sweatshirt.”

Most expensive item in her closet: “I honestly don’t know. I usually get my clothes cheap or free—I’m not big on expensive fashion.”

Name: Eugenia Wynne

Age
: 19

Occupation
: Recent Lasalle graduate from the Diploma of Creative Direction For Fashion programme

The fit
: "My top is from Stradivarius. I styled a thrifted cream lace top as a belt and paired it with a thrifted skirt I found at Lucky Plaza. My stockings are from Shopee, and the shoes are from H&M, but I customised them by adding studs I also got from Shopee. The bag is thrifted from Hammock Market, and the keychains are from TAAG in Korea."

What got her into fashion: "I guess I have always enjoyed dressing up. I used to play dress-up with my plushies as a child, giving them small clothes, and I would drape blankets like dresses."

What inspires her style: "Pink has always been my favorite color, and I believe that a lot of my current wardrobe is influenced by my childhood. I adored all things adorable back then, like plush toys, glitter, fluff, and everything soft or magical. I was obsessed with characters like Sharpay from High School Musical and the girls in Winx Club. They seemed to be living in their own world because of the dreamy, daring, and glittering mood of their attire."

Her favourite designer & dream purchase: "I think my favourite designer right now is Marina Eerie. I love how her pieces feel like something out of a haunting fairytale. My dream designer purchase would probably be one of her wedding gowns."

A fashion trend she wants to try for herself: "I’m really interested in experimenting with hyper-realistic, skin-like pieces, like the tattooed leather shoes and garments from Mxx Karade. I love how unsettling and raw they are, and how they blur the line between clothing and body. Even though it’s so different from my usual aesthetic, I’d love to style a look like that one day."

The fit: “My hair clips are from Shopee, and the necklaces are from Vivienne Westwood and Taobao. The bolero is from ssaltythrifts at Haji Lane, and the babydoll top is from a small business called namiko.co. The skirt is from Oni J, paired with thigh-high stockings from a cosplay set. My shoes are from Charles & Keith, and my bag is from Shopee.”

What inspires her style: “My inspiration comes from all kinds of media—games, anime, and shows. I love expressing different parts of my personality through fashion. I’m especially inspired by @norafawn on Instagram, who’s also really into cosplay, gaming and anime culture.”

Her hobbies: “I love everything creative—I genuinely believe it’s what I was born to do. Whether it’s cosplaying, sewing or drawing (digital or traditional), I’m always making something. Cosplay, in particular, ties closely with fashion. I often reuse pieces from cosplays in my everyday outfits—not just because it’s more sustainable and affordable, but because it pushes me to be more creative. Lately, I’ve been really inspired by the fashion style in Arcane.”

Her future aspirations: “My dream is to work for a niche magazine or be an illustrator for a video game—while also running a small fashion business on the side!”

Age

Occupation
: 2D Illustration and Narrative student at NAFA, and part-time zookeeper

The fit: "My top is from Taobao. The jeans, shoes and bag are from Shopee. The belt belongs to my sister. The bracelets are handmade, and many of the keychains on my bag are either from local artists or handmade. Hanging from my jeans pocket is an IKEA alien keychain and Toothless-themed earbuds."

On her hair colour: "I haven’t dyed my hair that many times, but my first-ever colour was green. My current shade is my favourite so far. I don’t change my hair often because of the damage, but I’ve found that my bold hair choices make me seem more approachable—and often bring smiles to people’s faces in unexpected ways."

Her favourite artists: "Artists like Junji Ito and directors like Tim Burton will always have my heart. I love the whimsical styles and imaginations they bring to life."

What inspires her style: "In illustration, there’s so much inspiration to draw from, and I love translating different aesthetics into both my dressing and my art. I used to dress quite simply, but these days I’m leaning into more grungy styles—and I’m excited to explore ideas within the Whimsigoth and Cottagecore aesthetics too."

Athirah Annissa

Name: Olivia Lau

Age: 18

Occupation: Music Performance (Vocal Major) student at NAFA, and National Gallery intern

The fit: "The top is from Coo.Seoul, and my pants are from an old brand called Jeans. The hobo shoulder bag was a gift from a friend who found it on Carousell. I’m wearing Gudetama socks by Sanrio with my Nike Air Max 1 ‘Hangul Day’. The Swarovski swan necklace is mine, while the earrings are from Shein and the hair clips are from Shopee."

Where she shops: "I shop a lot from my mum’s and dad’s closets too—it really helps to try new things. I’ve found lace tops, ruffled button-up blouses, cool pants and even old-fashioned dresses. On the day I wore this outfit, I actually dug into my mum’s wardrobe. I was going for an artistic yet casual look, since I had both work and graduation events to attend that day."

What inspires her: "I enjoy all forms of art—from fine arts to music performances, literature, writing and reading. As a classical music student, my favourite composer is Chopin. When it comes to pop, it’s definitely Lana Del Rey. Art books also inspire me, especially analytical studies like Monet by Van Gogh."

Her style icons: "People like Lana Del Rey, Beabadoobee and Laufey are my top style inspirations. I love their elegant yet slightly grunge-y looks. The way they embody their music through visual identity inspires me to be braver with my own style—to let music flow through how I dress too."

Name: Athaya Putri Muhammad

Age
: 21

Occupation: Recent Lasalle graduate from Fashion Media & Industries BA (Hons)

The fit: "My necklace, if I’m not mistaken, is from Re.drmg. I thrifted this pink outerwear from Blok M in Jakarta. The laptop bag is from @water__planet on Instagram—I got it when they had a booth at Public Garden. My skirt is from Les Miss in New York, the blue laced stockings are from Shopee, and the shoes... well, my mum got them for me from somewhere. Not trying to gatekeep, I swear!"

A thrift find she’s most proud of: "At the moment, it’s this super tiny mother-of-pearl clutch with illustrations of fishes on it—or maybe an oversized button-up shirt with cats on it (low-key cheating because my friend found it and showed it to me). She says I’m literally that one TikTok that goes, ‘POV: Your eccentric friend is being robbed.’"

A fashion trend she wishes more people were rocking: "Coloured and patterned stockings are sooo much fun. I’d wear a different pair every day if I could."

Her secret to making an outfit stand out:
"Don’t hold back. Sometimes I think, 'Okay, try to guess the vibe people are going for and match that.' While it’s okay to match the energy of your surroundings once in a while, there’s no feeling more freeing than wearing whatever makes you feel most like yourself. Let people know you. Let yourself be seen."
