From emojis to artists like Takashi Murakami, the smiley face has been one of the most prevalent pop culture symbols since the '50s. This summer, it leaves its mark on the Fossil X Smiley limited-edition capsule collection.

Trademarked by French journalist Franklin Lourani in 1972, the recognisable smiling icon is splashed across Fossil's handbags, small leather goods, and features in jewellery designs for this collaboration – the second of its kind following their partnership on Smiley's 50th anniversary Collector's Edition earlier this year.
Take the time to smile.
Two of Fossil's bestselling handbags, the Kier tote and crossbody, receive a cheery makeover with a bright orange smiley face printed on the centre of the leather surrounded by small daisies. Cardholders, clutches and wallets monogrammed with smiley faces also add some joy to the American brand's leather goods.

Layered with beaded chains in colours of yellow and coral, Fossil X Smiley jewellery designs channel Y2K. Bohemian-tinged costume jewellery is in abundance in this collection, with the smiley face and daisy re-designed as pendant necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and signet rings.
