Launching at Gucci's Paragon store here on January 11, the tie-up with the Californian purveyor of leisure-meets-technical performance gear is significant for the Italian house as it marks the first time that Alessandro Michele is teaming up with another brand for a full-fledged collection for both men and women.

In a way, this hyped-up outing – the Gucci website reportedly crash for about 10 minutes due to increased traffic when the campaign was launched last week – completes the wardrobe for Gucci Stans who can now add performance gear like goose-feather down coats and sturdy hiking boots with Goodyear-welted soles to their style vocabulary.

Not everything in the collection is meant for plunging temperatures, though. Other items in the mix include cotton T-shirts, silk pleated skirts and blouses, accessories, luggage and boots, as well as some pretty rad essentials for the great outdoors like tents and sleeping bags.

In true Gucci fashion, the designs are emblazoned with plenty of prints ranging from florals to wallpaper prints and a one-of-a-kind rendition of The North Face's iconic quarter-circle logo that co-opts Gucci's red and green house colours.
