Roses, Ruffles & Romance: Magda Butrym’s H&M Drop Is Major Main Character Energy

H&M has added another cult name to its collab hall of fame — this time, it’s Polish designer Magda Butrym bringing the romance (and the roses).

Okay, so you saw those incredible 3D rose looks on Iris Law, Nara Smith, and the crew at the H&M bash, right? Feeling the FOMO and suddenly needing one? You won’t have to wait long to get your hands on one. H&M’s latest designer collaboration — this time with cult Polish designer Magdalena Butrym — is dropping in less than a week on April 24.

Marking 20 years of H&M’s iconic designer tie-ups (past names include Comme des Garcons, Rabanne, Mugler and Maison Margiela), this latest collab is particularly special. It’s the first time the Swedish high street giant has teamed up with a Polish designer — and what a choice. Butrym’s pieces under her line Magda Butrym are beloved for their unapologetic femininity, romantic silhouettes and Slavic soul. Think rose-strewn gowns, structured tailoring and oversized outerwear with major drama..

It’s the first time the high street giant has teamed up with a Polish designer — and what a choice. Magda Butrym’s namesake label is beloved for its unapologetic femininity, romantic silhouettes, and unmistakable Slavic soul. Think rose-strewn gowns, strong-shouldered tailoring, and oversized outerwear dripping with drama.

The collection centres around the rose, a symbol of womanhood that Magda sees as both soft and confident, delicate and independent, captivating and ever-evolving. The babushka scarf, meanwhile, pays homage to Butrym's Slavic roots.

This collaboration also marks a decade of the Magda Butrym brand. Founded in 2014 by Butrym — who began studying fashion at 19 while styling on the side, and later worked in-house for Polish womenswear labels — the designer was shortlisted for the prestigious LVMH Prize in 2018. In just 10 years, she’s carved out a niche for her signature blend of modern femininity with folk-tinged nostalgia.

High hemlines and plunging necklines are distinctive features of the collection.

What to expect? Archival favourites reimagined: a red ruffled dress that looks like you’ve been dipped in roses, a sweeping crochet lace gown worthy of an editorial spread, and a burgundy leather coat that oozes polish and power. It’s romantic, rebellious, and utterly irresistible — perfect for anyone looking to make a statement this season.
