Love conquers all – and the large turnout for the 14th edition of the Pink Dot rally at the Speaker's Corner on June 18 drove home that message. This year's event marked the first physical gathering in two years after the ones for 2020 and 2021 had to be held virtually due to the pandemic.

The attendees who comprised members of and allies of the LGBTQ+ community turned the park into a sea of pink with their outfits in the colour du jour. Among them were musician Narelle Kheng, Internet phenom Preetipls, indie DJ and educator Ginette Chittick and author Paige Parker, who was there with her husband and daughters. For the first time in the event's history, two parliamentarians – Kebun Baru MP Henry Kwek and Sengkang GRC MP Jamus Lim – also made an appearance.

Unlike previous occasions, participants did not create a night light-up after sundown. Rather, they made a formation by holding pink placards at 7pm, while volunteers held white umbrellas forming the word "majulah". The latter was a nod to the national anthem and served as a rallying call for a more inclusive Singapore and to speak out about issues concerning the queer community here.

Sarah Medina (seated) who turned up in a loungey green Zara outfit and a Telfar bag proved you didn't necessarily need to make a style statement in pink for the event. Also standing out in the crowd was Afiq Anwar who turned up in a powder pink Burberry trench coat and Off-White belt worn across the body.
