Shye Made Fashion History At Chanel’s F/W '25 Show In Paris And We Were There for It
Our favourite homegrown indie-pop darling charmed the press (and possibly Park Seo Jun too). We couldn’t be more proud 🥹
By Noelle Loh,
You know it’s a big deal when Chanel comes calling – and for its Fall Winter 2025 show at the Grand Palais in Paris, the iconic French fashion house extended a coveted invite to none other than Shye, one of the biggest Gen Z musicians out of Singapore right now.
Shye takes a bow: The Singapore Gen Z musician’s invite card to the Chanel Fall Winter 2025 show in Paris came with one as ribbons are a key motif in the collection.
The 22-year-old singer-songwriter repped Singapore at Paris Fashion Week 2025 as an official guest of Chanel, seated among an international line-up of global celebrity guests including Park Seo Jun, Rebecca Armstrong, Tyla, and Camila Cabello.
“I remember I was at home working on music when I got a call from my mum. I thought she was just calling to ask me what I wanted for dinner, but instead she said, “Guess where you’ve been invited to,” she tells us. “Even when I was packing for the trip, it still felt like a ‘is this for real’ moment, and it was not until I had gone for the fitting with the Chanel team in Paris that it started to sink in.”
Shye has arrived. The Singapore musician was invited to attend Chanel’s Fall Winter 2025 show in Paris in March, and wore a black iridescent tweed dress from the Spring Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection, and the cutest mini bag – all from Chanel – for the occasion.
It’s a long way from when we first met Shye as a 17-year-old, working with us on a video to accompany her hypnotic, broodingly romantic single Momentary. Since then, we’ve watched her evolve into not only one of the most recognisable independent musicians in Singapore, but also a mentor to emerging creatives through her self-funded initiative, HearMeUp.
And as Shye’s music career has taken off, so has her interest in style. She’s a regular face at fashion events in Singapore as well as in fashion editorials, including our cover story that spotlighted her in Chanel’s 2023/2024 Metiers d’Art collection. (Missed it? Catch the full shoot here.)
For the Singapore musician Shye, Paris has always struck her as “a place where people go to discover themselves”. Here she poses with Aki, a pet dog she befriended while she was exploring the city ahead of the Chanel Fall Winter 2025 show.
Now for her to have received a front row invitation to one of the most anticipated shows on the Paris Fashion Week calendar is no small feat. One can even say that her appearance at Chanel’s Fall Winter 2025 show cements her place among global cultural tastemakers; her artistry and personality getting recognition on the international stage. This is a big win not just for her, but also Singapore’s creative scene.
“My biggest takeaway from this experience is that honestly anything can happen,” says Shye. “All these years of work spent honing my craft have been purely driven by the passion I have towards music, and I am thankful that people have allowed my music to take up space in their hearts and lives... For someone who still makes all my music independently from home, I never would have thought that the hobby I discovered and fell in love with would one day lead me to attending Paris Fashion Week with Chanel! I truly believe that what’s meant to be yours will be yours, but sometimes you have to be patient.”

And yes, we were lucky enough to tag along for this journey. From her walk into the Grand Palais, to her soaking up what it’s like to sit front row and rub shoulders with global stars at Paris Fashion Week, to her personal sojourn of Paris – the city of light, we documented every moment. What’s next, Shye? We’re rooting for you.
