Why know her: She first found fame for her comical, no-holds-barred #minahtok skits that satirise in jest the Malay side of her heritage (she’s Italian on the other), but we always sensed that there’s a budding fashion and beauty star inside of her too. Her more recent content proves that our hunch was right: an uptick of playful GRWM videos in which she reveals her deft hand at recreating trendy makeup looks and a love for getting all dolled up – all done with her natural, more-composed accent and Gen Z hottie mannerism. Bet it’s only a matter of time before bigger brands send her a wave.

Her background and how it’s shaped her content: “I was raised in a multiracial household so I’ve been exposed to different cultures and speak multiple languages (English, Italian and Malay)… And I’ve always enjoyed doing impersonations since I was a kid and was the star entertainer of the family with them.”

On how she gets inspiration for her skits: “It comes mostly from my upbringing as well as being observant about the different types of attitudes and behaviours different individuals in Singapore portray. Not all land as expected, but it’s normal that not every video turns out a success. What’s important to me is that I keep trying and figure out what my audience enjoys viewing.”

How much of her TikTok personality is true? “I would say 30 per cent. I won’t lay claim to being a minah, but I’m very good at portraying one and I do enjoy turning on this persona for fun when I’m with my friends. If you want a more authentic side of me, there’s my Instagram account (@shaniselozzi). I intentionally kept the content on each platform different because I do not want to be a persona on all of my social media accounts.”

How TikTok has helped her to nurture her creative talent: “I would describe myself as someone who has a hard time committing to doing only one job for the rest of my life. As a platform that encourages creativity and humour, TikTok offers the perfect platform for me to find work in which I can explore different ideas.”

Most memorable comment she’s received on TikTok: “Someone commented about how watching all my videos made her day!”

Best thing about TikTok: “The fact that I’m able to express myself freely in different comical ways and make people laugh!”

Worst thing about TikTok: “The negativity and criticism you might face as a creator – the Internet will be the Internet.”

If there was no TikTok: “I’d be unemployed.”
