Okay, so back in 1987, Chanel dropped their very first watch, the Premiere, and it was seriously iconic. They went completely rogue, taking inspo from the chic octagonal stopper of the N°5 perfume and hooking it up with a bracelet that looked just like the leather-chain strap on their quilted bag. Basically, it was a major flex, born out of pure creative freedom, and it immediately became a bold, timeless reference in the watch world.
Fast-forward to 2025, and the Premiere is leveling up by snagging another Chanel signature: the braid. Gabrielle Chanel was the queen of the braid, using it on her suits to highlight the edges, pockets, and wrists, giving them that perfect structure. Whether it matched the suit or totally contrasted it for a graphic moment, she used every kind of material and technique—knitted, woven, twisted—you name it.
The new vibe is the Premiere Galon. It’s rocking a twisted braid bangle as the bracelet, which is a whole new way to wear the watch. This one is done in 18-carat yellow gold, making the sleek, black lacquered dial look even more snatched (it’s kept pure, no weird indicators).
And because Chanel loves options, and there are a million versions of their iconic suit braids, the Premiere Galon also comes in two versions dripped in diamonds. It’s holding onto that major couture spirit but flexing into the jewelry world, too.
Which version are you adding to your wishlist? The classic gold or the diamond-studded moment?
