Will Manon From Katseye's Iconic Eyebrows Suit You? Here's A Tutorial
Thin eyebrows are back in trend, and Katseye's Manon has the gnarliest Gen Z take that you should be rocking too.
By Lucy Lauron,
Like most people on the internet, I've been obsessed with Katseye. Everything from their quintissentially Gen Z style, to their gnarly music, to their chaotic livestreams—what's there not to love? Since debuting in June 2024 with hit song Touch, it looks like the sextuplet is only going to get bigger.
Other than their ever-evolving sound (with two EPs under their belt, the group's sound is already incredibly diverse), something I'm keeping an eye on is their eccentric yet trendy style. And it looks like the fashion world is too. From Fendi, to Gentle Monster, to most recently Pandora, Katseye is already accumulating fashion campaigns left and right. Of the many iconic fashion moments each member has had, one signature feature that's had a chokehold over Eyekons (and me) is Manon's eyebrows.
23 year-old Manon Bannerman and her iconic brows.
Straight, tapered, upturned, sans arch- her distinct eyebrow shape has had the internet mesmerised since she debuted. And for good reason. It's not a shape that's seen often, but it's a shape that's probably coming at a great time. We're in the midst of the early-2000s thin eyebrows' renaissance, after all. Stars like Christina Aguilera, Pamela Anderson, even Beyonce were part of the OG celebrities sporting the look back in the day.
Honestly, while the Y2K boom didn't convince me to sheer off half my eyebrows, Manon definitely did. For those less impulsive than me, here's a tutorial on how to get the look, according to a professional. Freelance hair and makeup artist and frequent collaborator, 25 year-old Sarah Tan, has some tips and tricks on how to rock the Manon brows.
How would you describe Manon's style?
SARAH TAN (ST): "Manon has been a blueprint for the internet baddies since before she was even scouted for Katseye! Her overall style to me seems to be the perfect balance of edgy street style and a girlier cutesy style. She mixes in both feminine and masculine silhouettes in her dressing, and she keeps her makeup more neutral to tie it all together."
What's the vibe that Manon's eyebrows gives?
ST: "Manon’s eyebrows are very iconic to her, and other Katseye members have also mentioned taking inspiration from her as well! She’s known for having sharp and straight eyebrows that have a slight upward tilt to them. Something interesting I’ve noticed is that even just five years ago, thin eyebrows that go upwards have been synonymous with being a fierce sultry look, yet Manon carries this look with a degree of softness that doesn’t make the shape look as intimidating.
She keeps the fronts fluffy and natural looking, and there no defined arch, which contributes to its overall softness. Her features are also on the rounder more dolly side (big eyes, button nose, pouty lips) which balances out with the sharper brow that gives her look an extra edge."
How would you go about emulating Manon's eyebrow shape?
ST: "The first thing you need to do is to shave off the tails of your brows as they tend to grow downwards for most of us. Your eyebrows are going to end up looking like a short nub when it isn’t filled in, but once you get in there and redraw your tail upwards, the sacrifice will be worth it.
The best way to go about this is to start the thinning process from the bottom of the brow first, following the natural tilt from the front half of your brow as a guideline, and then going in to clean up the top after you are happy with the angle you have. It is also important to make sure you don’t remove too much of the thickness from the front of the brow as you still want them to be feathery."
How would Manon's eyebrows look between different eye shapes?
ST: "Thinning out the brows and angling it upwards opens up a lot of eyelid space and I find that with this extra real estate your eyes tend to look even bigger. For people with upturned eyes, this would emphasise that shape even further, resulting in that snatched foxy look that has been popular the past couple of years. People with downturned eyes also stand to benefit from lifting the ends of your eyebrows as the extra lid space and framing from the brows counters the natural droop, giving a fresher more awake look."
Any specific tips to note before thinning our eyebrows like Manon's?
ST: "I believe that Manon's eyebrow shape can suit most people if they are committed to carrying off the aesthetic. And they are a committment- you'll have to fill in your brows everyday if you don’t want to walk around with half of your brows missing. The general guide is to get rid of the parts that go downwards. From there you can play around with their thickness and how upward you want the angle to go, working with what your natural brow shape allows for and adapting the look for yourself."
Any other eyebrow tips that you’d like to share with our readers?
ST: "If you’re doing your own brows at home, a great hack for visualising the shape and ensuring symmetry would be using a white or nude gel pencil or even just a concealer on an angled brush to erase the stray hairs and carve out the shape you want first, and then going in with your razor or tweezers to remove the hairs that you’ve previously 'erased.'
There’s also a TikTok filter that I like to follow as a guideline when I’m doing my personal grooming at home. It basically follows the concept of the golden ratio for eyebrow shaping (the 3 points where the start, arch, and ends should be) but mapped out for you to visualise.
And also at the end of the day, eyebrow hairs grow back, so don’t panic if you’ve made a mistake and don’t fall into the spiral of further thinning each side in an attempt to get them to match. You can always balance them back out with an eyebrow pencil while waiting for it to grow back."
Tan's Top Eyebrow Beauty Products
Dual-Action Brow Pop eyebrow pencil, $34, Kosas
Why she recommends this: "I prefer to go in with an eyebrow pencil that has a harder wax texture as it gives more control when drawing sharper lines. This is great especially for redefining and elongating your new eyebrow tail. I also like a brow pencil that has more of the sword like shape as it helps make drawing longer straighter lines easier. This Kosas eyebrow pencil is a current favourite that fits both of these criteria."

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumising Gel tinted eyebrow gel, $47, Sephora
Why she recommends this: "I also like running a tinted brow gel through the brows to thicken the existing brow hairs and fluff them out, especially for the front hairs, for a more natural, undrawn finish. This is a classic."
