2025 in Purchases: Our Favourite Creators’ Best Buys & Big Declutters
Time for a year-end audit of everything we bought in 2025.
By Kenme Lam EJ,
As the year draws to a close, it’s the time of year again when we look back on everything we spent our hard-earned coin on – the wins, the splurges, and the stuff we’re unfortunately Marie Kondo-ing before the new year.
We tapped six of our favourite creators for a peek into their year in purchases. Here’s what they let us in on.
Lila Tan, 22, national football player, model & content creator
Lila Tan wears her beloved Casio watch.
FAVE PURCHASE OF 2025: “My Casio A100 watch that I wear on the daily – classic, retro, and sophisticated! It just elevates every outfit so naturally.”
BIGGEST IMPULSE PURCHASE: “Super recently, I irrationally purchased a $300 Diesel belt… I walked in the store, decided I had to buy something and that was the chosen one. I do regret it still.”
AN ITEM YOU’RE DECLUTTERING: “I am planning to let go of some fast fashion pieces and move towards more intentional & timeless pieces – I would most likely donate these!”
Putri Adif, 26, fashion designer and stylist
Putri in her favourite classic Burberry trench coat.
FAVE PURCHASE OF 2025: “This is a really hard one, but I’d say my vintage Burberry trench coat that I got from Dirty Laundry. It’s an absolute classic – I think I’ve dreamt of owning a staple Burberry trench for many years now, and something as timeless as that will live in my collection for a long time.”
A TREND YOU HOPPED ON THIS YEAR:
“A beauty trend I hopped on would be the thin brows. I have officially retired my bleached brows – they might come back once in a while when needed, but the thin brows are currently my favourite. Personally, I find that they feel so effortless.”
AN ITEM YOU’RE DECLUTTERING: “My perfume collection as I tend to only reach for a few and have recently bought newer scents. I finally understand what I want to smell like and what scents sit on my skin best, so I have to declutter to achieve a capsule collection.”
Tanisha Khan, 27, model, entrepreneur and co-founder of Pilates accessories label Sunday Pilates Club
Tanisha rocks her Carrie Bradshaw-inspired capris.
FAVE PURCHASE OF 2025: “My favourite purchase isn’t something you can hold – it’s actually my Masters’ Degree. Building my own brand taught me how to move on instinct: to learn by doing, to trust my gut, to keep going even when there was no map. The MBA didn’t replace real experience, it provided real structure and depth. It gave language to what I already knew, and clarity to what I was still learning. It taught me to pause, question, and build with intention.”
A TREND YOU HOPPED ON THIS YEAR: “Capris. I swore I would never be a Capri girl. Ever. Then I started rewatching Sex and the City (for the millionth time). I kept seeing Carrie Bradshaw in capris – effortless, unapologetic, somehow making them work.
So I tried them, and I loved them. Turns out, some trends don’t need convincing, just timing. And it looks like capris are here to stay in my wardrobe for the next few years.”
AN ITEM YOU’RE DECLUTTERING: “All the skincare I was too quick to trust on TikTok. I’ve always believed in a minimal approach to makeup and fashion, but skincare was where I let myself be influenced. Somewhere along the way, my vanity became cluttered, and my skin felt overwhelmed. So I stripped it back and kept only what truly mattered – a gentle cleanser for my dry skin, a really good moisturiser, and without fail, sunscreen. Sometimes, less really is more.”
Isaac Ang, 32, Host & Founder of Vintage Stores Loop Garms and Stakeout
Isaac wears his Bare Knuckles jeans.
FAVE PURCHASE OF 2025: “I had a number of pretty solid purchases this year, but if I really had to pick one, it would be the Shrunken ‘90s Western Trucker Jacket by Levi’s. One of those pieces that feels familiar the second you put it on, yet somehow still hits every time.”
BIGGEST IMPULSE PURCHASE: “I’ve been following an American brand called Bare Knuckles for a long while now. I’ve also followed one of its co-founders, Jacob Keller, for over a decade. When I found out they had a stockist in Tokyo, I went to check it out in person in November and fell in love with their Serge Loose Bootcut Jeans. I stood in the store for about 20 minutes debating whether to pull the trigger. I did, and no regrets at all – it’s been in heavy rotation ever since. I wear it about three to four times a week.”
AN ITEM YOU REGRET SELLING:
“Either the FW24 Beautiful People Left Hand Twill Wide 3 Sides Selvedge Denim Pants, or the SS20 Soshiotsuki Double Breasted Sailor Peaked Jacket. Both still live rent-free in my head.”
Xara Cynara-Lee, 27, Co-founder of Rework In Progress (RIP) Thrift Store
Xara carrying her prized Fuguku bag.
FAVE PURCHASE OF 2025: “My Fuguku bag – made out of plastic waste and traditional Indonesian dying techniques. And it has such a unique silhouette!”
AN ITEM YOU’RE DECLUTTERING:
Xara’s Balenciaga Knife mules.
“My absolute favourite thrifted Balenciaga Knife mules. I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t have to declutter them, but the tip of the heel came off so I sent them to the cobbler, only for him to break the heel! I’m really hoping to find someone who can fix them.”
A TREND YOU HOPPED ON IN 2025: “I don’t really hop on trends so nothing comes to mind, but mindful consumerism is oh-so sexy and I’ll be taking that for the rest of my life!”
Nicole Chin, 30, branding and social media strategist & content creator
Nicole wears her ASICS Gel Kayanos.
FAVE PURCHASE OF 2025: “My ASICS Gel Kayano 14s – so comfortable and great for long walks. Hands-down my most worn shoe in 2025.”
AN ITEM YOU’RE DECLUTTERING: “I used to love crop tops but don’t get as much wear out of them anymore as I don’t like to have my midriff out. I’ll be donating them to the thrift store, or swapping them at Cloop or The Fashion Pulpit.”
A TREND YOU HOPPED ON IN 2025:
“Wearing scarves as an accessory! I’ve been adding it to my hairstyles to balance out my outfits and have been loving them.”
