Chinese New Year presents an annual opportunity for brands to have fun with animal prints. Some years and their corresponding Zodiac animal, are easier fits than others. This tiger year is, in particular, a great match for Italian luxury house Gucci.

The brand has come up with an extensive collection of ready-to-wear and accessories for the festive occasion. The crux of which is a new tiger print. Sort of new – it's actually a new interpretation of a late '60s archival design by Vittorio Accornero, the artist and illustrator who originally created the brand's signature Flora print.
The Gucci Tiger collection can also be purchased from an ephemeral store at Paragon.
Tigers also fall neatly into the menagerie of flora and fauna that suffuses creative director Alessandro Michele's universe of Gucci. It comes in varying levels of pizzazz: from AM-levels of all-over print and colour to subtler inclusions of the motif painted by hand, patched using crochet and embroidery, or even on the lining of a trench coat.

As is the case with special collections these days, this will come packaged in festive-themed boxes and paper bags, and a new dedicated label that features the Gucci Tiger print. As a nice touch to its sustainability commitments, Gucci has also ensured that the components of the packaging are responsibly sourced. That means paper from well-managed forests, handles made from recycled polyester and knotted rather than glued, and ribbons crafted from organic cotton.
